Social Structures at Abundance EcoVillage
Social Structures at Abundance EcoVillage The developers of Abundance are not setting up the social structures of an intentional community, although something that looks like an intentional community could develop at Abundance EcoVillage. The goal of the developers is to set up the physical structures that will allow residents to be independent of conventional and unsustainable sources of energy, water, food production, and to enable residents to recycle and reuse wastes.
The developers feel that it is best to let the social structures develop as a natural response to the interactions of the residents.
That said, a lot of thought went in to designing the physical lay out of the project to encourage serendipitous interaction between residents and to allow residents their privacy when desired. The developers encourage the residents to co-operate and to set up social structures that will allow the residents to live even more self sufficient and sustainable lives. Here are some possible social structures that could be set up by residents to further the vision of abundance ecovillage:
Car Co-ops- Reduce the environmental, social and financial costs of car ownership by sharing car ownership. Equivalent access to transportation services provided by personally owning a car could be maintained, but the cost of ownership could be spread over several individuals.
Tool and equipment lending libraries-

Shared art, craft, and music studio facilities -
Food production-

Educational outreach-
Sale of food products produced at Abundance-
