Abundance EcoVillage Project
Beyond Sustainability
Care of the Earth - Care of the People
Plan for the Vision
Here is how we plan to implement the vision for the Abundance EcoVillage.
Looking at the village, you will see housing clusters of small homes and apartments that we call neighborhoods. There are 4 neighborhoods with 9 to 12 units per neighborhood, a total of 40 or so homes and apartments. You will also see ponds, renewable energy systems, orchards, gardens, paths, small access roads, a small farm, windbreaks, shelterbelts, several greenhouses, a common building, a bunk house for guests and interns, a wetland, prairie, savannah, food forests, and mixed hardwood forests. The proportion and relative placement of these items been determined through the use of Sthapatya Veda, Permaculture design methodologies, and common sense (we hope).
Village location and layout - 16 acres of land has been purchased on the northern edge of Fairfield. The land is located at the northern end of B Street, and is roughly 600 feet along the eastern and western edges and 1200 feet along the northern and southern edges. The edges of the property are parallel to the cardinal directions. Much of the land slopes very gently to the east.
