- If every family in the U.S. exchanged one compact fluorescent light bulb for one incandescent light bulb, two nuclear power plants could be shut down over night!
- There are more chemicals in the average American home today, then there were in the average chemical laboratory 100 years ago.
- If every American family planted just one tree, over a billion pounds of green gases would be removed from the atmosphere every year.
- Photo voltaic panels (solar panels) covering 0.3% of the U.S. could provide all of the United States electricity needs .0.3% is roughly half the size of Rhode Island.
- 25-30%of our garbage is plant matter & can be composted.
- For each ton of paper you recycle, you save:

42 gallons of gasoline
4210kwh of electric
7000 gallons of water
3.5 cubic yards of landfill space
- If we recycled all of the aluminum trash thrown away in America we could rebuild the entire U.S. airline fleet every 3 months
- The U.S. produces 154 million tons of garbage every year, enough to fill a football stadium to the top twice a day, everyday. 50% of this is recyclable.
- If every American family planted just one tree, over a billion pounds of greenhouse gases would be removed from the atmosphere every year.
- The U.S. has only 6% of the worlds population but produces half of the worlds garbage.
